چکیده

We applied a single-shot echo-planar axial diffusion tensor sequence with parallel imaging for tractography of the cervical cord. Placing a large region of interest on a reconstructed sagittal image, the cervical cord was depicted as a tract bundle showing color-encoded cephalocaudally. By setting one region of interest in the cerebral peduncle and another in the entire cord on source images, tracts on each side were visualized. This method is promising for tractography of the cervical cord.

Human cervical spinal cord funiculi: investigation with magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging.

PURPOSE To use spinal cord diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) for investigating human cervical funiculi, acquire axial diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data with an in-plane resolution sufficient to delineate subquadrants within the spinal cord, obtain corresponding DTI metrics, and assess potential regional differences. MATERIALS AND METHODS Healthy volunteers were studied with a 3 T S...

32-channel RF coil optimized for brain and cervical spinal cord at 3 T.

Diffusion and functional magnetic resonance imaging of the spinal cord remain challenging due to the small cross-sectional size of the cord and susceptibility-related distortions. Although partially addressable through parallel imaging, few highly parallel array coils have been implemented for the cervical cord. Here, we developed a 32-channel coil that fully covers the brain and c-spine and ch...

Investigating cervical spinal cord structure using axial diffusion tensor imaging.

This study describes a new technique for Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) that acquires axial (transverse) images of the cervical spinal cord. The DTI images depict axonal fiber orientation, enable quantification of diffusion characteristics along the spinal cord, and have the potential to demonstrate the connectivity of cord white matter tracts. Because of the high sensitivity to motion of diffu...

Diffusion tensor imaging in spinal cord injury

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To assess the feasibility of spinal tractography in patients of spinal cord injury vs a control group and to compare fractional anisotropy (FA) values between the groups. MATERIALS AND METHODS Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) was performed in the spinal cord of 29 patients (18 patients and 11 controls). DTI was done in the cervical region if the cord injury was at the dor...

P9: Cervical Spinal Cord Extraction in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Cross-Sectional Area

Multiple sclerosis (MS) refers to the lesions that accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive and versatile modality used to show changes in the tissues over time. There has been significant interest in evaluating the relationship between the brain atrophy and disease progression rather than the spinal cord atrophy. The cervical spinal cord h...
